CantoListen is a local-first reading and audiobook app. You can import TXT, EPUB, MP3, M4A, and M4B files, then parse, play, read aloud, and manage progress on your device.
CantoListen is designed for local use. Books, text, audio, covers, chapter information, playback progress, bookmarks, and preferences that you import or create are stored on your device by default. We do not actively upload, analyze, or share your imported content.
When you import files from Files, iCloud Drive, cloud drives, WeChat, browsers, email, or other apps, iOS provides the selected files to CantoListen. We use them only to parse chapters, extract covers, generate playback content, save progress, and provide the listening experience.
CantoListen may use iOS speech and local audio capabilities. Voice, speed, cache, and playback state related to system features are handled according to iOS behavior. Unless you choose to use an external service or share files yourself, CantoListen does not upload your content to our servers.
If you contact us by email, your message, email address, attachments, device details, or screenshots you choose to provide may be used to diagnose issues, reply to you, and improve the product. Please avoid sending unrelated sensitive personal information.
CantoListen may request permissions for file access, media playback, background playback, notifications, or network access. These permissions are used for importing files, playing audio, keeping playback active, opening online policy pages, or sending feedback email.
The app may open online policy pages, the Mail app, or App Store pages through system services. These third parties process data under their own rules. We do not control their privacy practices.
Imported files, covers, chapters, cache, progress, and bookmarks are usually stored locally on your device. You can delete books in the app or delete app data through system settings. Uninstalling the app may delete locally stored data, subject to iOS behavior.
CantoListen is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a guardian believes a child has provided personal information without consent, please contact us.
We may update this policy for feature changes, legal requirements, or operational needs. The updated date will be shown on this page. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users in the app or on the website.

You are responsible for ensuring that files you import, play, read, or share are lawful and that you have the necessary rights. You must not use the app to process, distribute, or share content that infringes copyright, privacy, reputation, or other legal rights.
You must not maliciously crack, reverse engineer, attack, disrupt, bypass system restrictions, or use the app for unlawful, infringing, fraudulent, or harassing purposes.
CantoListen mainly manages data locally. Please back up important files and listening materials yourself. We cannot guarantee recovery for data lost due to device damage, system cleanup, mistaken deletion, uninstalling, storage failure, or third-party sync issues.
We work to provide a stable and accurate parsing and playback experience, but file format, encoding, chapter structure, audio metadata, and system environment differences may affect results. We do not guarantee that every file can be fully recognized or played.
We may update these terms as the product changes. If you do not agree with updated terms, you may stop using the app. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.
